September House. Oh, where do I start? It seemed like any other day. I had gone hiking in the woods near my house, as I had many times. It’s my favorite place to be and seems like an enchanted forest the way the old trees arch over the dirt path. Today, I guess I veered slightly off the path accidentally as I had my eye on nature’s beauty—instead of on the trail. As I stood looking for the way back, I heard something unusual near a grove of ferns. But then it was gone. I must’ve circled around back to the same exact spot looking for my way. As I approached the fern grove again, I heard it. Tiny sounds of merriment and dishes clanking. Or so I thought. I walked back and forth a few times before I saw it: Not much sun got through the trees, even on a sunny day, but September House was aglow!
Tucked in a bush of blooms, I bent down to see where the festivities were happening. There it was the most charming blue-green bird cage I’d ever seen! It was partially obscured by leaves and flowers and inside was a tiny fairy birthday party. It was the happiest place I’d ever laid eyes upon, decorated in fresh pops of yellow and green. From the cupcake liner tablecloth to the custom painted hutch dusted with “sugar
cube” sparkle, I couldn’t believe my eyes. There was a birthday cake ready to be served along with mugs of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. It seemed the perfect place to kick off your shoes and stay cool under the bird feather ceiling fan, or the pinwheel fan on the hutch that spins with every breeze.
After celebrating, I could imagine grabbing a book from the hutch to curl up with in the magical flower canopy bed for a rest as the birthday candle lamp keeps September House cozily aglow. On your way out, you can light the mossy little tea light at night so you can easily find your way back. You can replace the battery if it runs out. Let’s give the fireflies a break ;-)
Fairies love to make use of everything, wasting nothing. That’s why sometimes things disappear when they’re around. But they teach us to recycle and to appreciate the small things, taking extra special care of nature and animals. And most importantly, they teach us to have fun!
I guess it’s true: By believing, we see! I do believe in fairies, I do! I do!
