GARDEN HOUSE. It felt like the most magical kind of day right from the start. The kind when you wake, just knowing something special is going to happen. I set out through the garden to gather some blooms for the dinner table and there it was--Garden House! Perched atop a stump at the highest point in the garden--so lovely and light! It was so bright and airy I couldn’t believe my eyes--sun just dappled the place! What a perfect spot from which to gather fresh herbs and flowers for the intoxicating elixirs and potions brewed (and readily consumed!) here. You’ll catch a glimpse of the mini apothecary on the bark sidetable, whose bottles were handmade from beads “borrowed” from the Victorian mansion on the hill. Even the hutch was grass stained with the freshest blades spring had to offer. A gentle “thwap” and the tattoo fern imprints complete the hutch’s decor.
After a walk through the spellbinding garden, you’re just in time for a wee spot of tea which has been steeping in the acorn pot on the hutch. Or sit a spell at the delightfully set table, on flower petal covered stumps. The solid wood floor, worn smooth from years of tiny little feet dancing in merriment at nightly garden parties, is covered with a tobacco flannel rug (a more modern piece, used in the human realm since earlier
last century ~1905-1912.)
Grab an adventure story from the hutch and climb into an oversized pod chair next to the birthday candle lamp. Or take a listen to the enchanted conch shell on the hutch. It’s said to whisper exactly what you need to hear if sage advice is what you seek. When it’s time to nestle in, take flight up to the bird’s nest for a slumber. Your doll and tiny pillow are waiting just for you. You’ll feel the pinwheel fan on the hutch soothe you as it spins with every warm breeze. You’ll most certainly feel rejuvenated after a visit to this magical retreat.
